1st Edition

The 1st edition of the International Conference on Agriculture in an Urbanizing Society was held in April 2012 at Wageningen University, in the Netherlands having as central theme “Multifunctional Agriculture and Urban-Rural Relations”. It was attended by 253 participants distributed into 19 working groups.

The aim of the event was to gather experts, scholars, managers and organizations involved in agri-food issues that were interested in discussing new food production, distribution and consumption strategies for the 21st century.

2nd Edition

The 2nd Conference was held from September 14th to 17th, 2015 at Roma Tre University, in Rome. The conference was attended by 370 participants divided into 24 working groups and its main theme was “Reconnecting Agriculture and Food Chains to Societal Needs”.

The 4th edition of the “Social Innovations for the Agriculture of the Future” award was sponsored by Icare. The winners were granted with an artisanal artwork, made by a young Italian artist-artisan who creates artworks with recycled materials. Moreover, the first three positions got a cash prize.

The attendance of participants from over 60 countries has consolidated the international nature of the event and encouraged its launching for other continents. Thus, Brazil was selected to host the 3rd edition of the Conference in 2018.
